RACE COURSES:
Limited/Unlimited Class
Boats will start at the Breakwater marked “START” on map. Safety boat crew will line them up. Up to four boats will run at one time, depending on number of entrants. Run is a single straight line to Finish. End of race is signaled by a checkered flag at the designated Safety boat in line with the dolphin off the North side of City Dock marked “FINISH” on map. The number of boats will determine the number of heats.
Note: Harbor will be closed for duration of races. No unauthorized boats allowed in racing area during races. Harbor Department will direct traffic to other harbors, and safety boats will also monitor activity. |
Jet Boat Slalom
There will be two classes, Inboard jet and outboard jet. Boats will race individually and will be timed. Start line is at Buoy #3. Racers will run in a straight line to round buoy #4, then zig zag through buoys (marked as yellow circles on the map above) placed between buoys #4 and #3. Time will stop after the nose of the boat has crossed the start/Finish line at buoy #3. Boats with the fastest times will be awarded places.
Note: Harbor will be closed for duration of races. No unauthorized boats allowed in racing area during races. Harbor Department will direct traffic to other harbors, and safety boats will also monitor activity. |
Funny Boat Races
Boats will start at the Breakwater marked “START” on map. Safety boat crew will line them up. Up to four boats will run at one time, depending on number of entrants. Boats must stay to the outside of buoy #3. Run is a single straight line to “Kill power” line marked on map. The racer must kill power before their engine crosses the plane, and must not make any turns under power or they will be disqualified. Racers will then paddle their boats back to the tie-up float (marked as a blue square on the map), secure their boat, remove their tether and helmet, jump into the water, swim back to the registration dock, pull themselves out of the water or use the dock ladder, run up the ramp, and ring the bell at the top of the ramp. The race ends when last racer rings the bell. Note, while paddling the boat, the racers may use any route back to the tie-up float.
Note: Harbor will be closed for duration of races. No unauthorized boats allowed in racing area during races. Harbor Department will direct traffic to other harbors, and safety boats will also monitor activity. |
Rooster Tail
Boats will run individually. Start line is about half way between buoy #3 and the breakwater. Boat will start when ready, stay on the outside of buoy #3, throw the rooster tail of his or her choice, and will end before or at the outside of buoy #4. Winner will be chosen by crowd response.
Note: Harbor will be closed for duration of races. No unauthorized boats allowed in racing area during races. Harbor Department will direct traffic to other harbors, and safety boats will also monitor activity. |
